Chriso's Tribute Fund

MAY 2005 Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues Chriso Andreou, who died nearly five years ago (29/05/2000) of motor neurone disease, was a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. Her special gift was for working with the deprived and marginalised; she worked with children and young people whose lives had been blighted by abuse and neglect and she helped them find hope. Being herself from an immigrant family, she was particularly attuned to difficulties of transition and was among the pioneers in considering the special therapeutic needs of patients from immigrant and minority ethnic groups. She was too busy doing the work to produce much written material, although her work lives on the lives she touched and changed. However some articles can be found on: www.tavi-port.org/departments/h_staffpublication. Also the BMJ published an article to which she contributed (1998 edition 317 175-179 18/07/1998). Chriso appreciated the help she received from The MND Association and she was always well informed on the latest developments in research towards the fight to find a cure for MND. In her generosity of spirit Chriso would want the research to continue urgently so that others may one day benefit from the treatment breakthrough she so longed for.
